Long time no see!

Happy New Year to you all!
I hope you had a good Christmas and New Year.

Let me talk about Japanese New Year's Holidays.

I went to "Hatsumode" with my family. Hatsumode means to visit to shrines on New Year's day. This is old Japanese culture. The purpose is to pray for our happiness and health in the coming year. Many people also draw "omikuji" to learn their fortune for the new year. When I also draw an omikuji it had excellent luck written on it. I believe a lot of good things are coming this year!

Japanse people often eat "zoni" at New Year's. Zoni is soup with mochi (rice cakes) and vegetables and other ingredients. I have been eating zoni since I was a child. It is very delicious, so I love it. Interestingly, the ingredients vary depending on the region! I would like to eat many kinds of zoni.

"Otoshidama" is one of the happy event for children. They are given money from their parents and relatives. They may buy toys. Some children buy video games.

Do you have any resolution this year? I am decided to study hard more and more. It is to dream come true! I'll do my best.
